Recently, certified by the National Photovoltaic Industry Metrology and Testing Center, Chengdu Youyangsheng Tandem PV Technology Co., Ltd, (hereinafter referred to as “ YYS”)an emerging perovskite company, setting a new world record which has achieved a steady state efficiency of 23.67% for its single junction perovskite module (30cm*30cm) in testing.
YYS is co-founded by a team led by Professor Zhao Dewei of Sichuan University.
YYS has adopted a distinctive business model to advance perovskite industrialization. The company’s team of perovskite scientists, comprising multiple professors, collaboratively tackles key scientific challenges in the field. While vigorously promoting industrialization, the team focuses on researching critical scientific aspects such as perovskite device structures, materials and formulations, and longevity. They leverage the pilot production platform at the SPRI through leasing arrangements for industrial technology development. Experienced process engineers from SPS provide support on their battle tested perovskite industrial platform, assisting YYS in process research and optimization for large size module manufacturing while continuously iterating on their own pilot production lines. This powerful academic collaboration combines the technical team’s solid academic expertise with the high quality SPRI platform and engineering team. The mutual empowerment between research and industry has ultimately led to breaking the world record.
Coving approximately 20,000 square meters, SPRI dominates the 243-acre SPS Perovskite Industrial Park in Yangzhou Economic Development Zone. With an initial investment of 340 million RMB, it was established to accelerate perovskite technology teams in entering the forefront of perovskite industrialization swiftly, cost-effectively and efficiently, thereby jointly advancing the industrialization process of perovskite technology. The institute has built the world’s first pilot production platform for mass production, now equipped with one 100MW single junction production line, one 100MW tandem production line, three pilot lines for 300x300mm modules, and an analytical testing laboratory. Since its opening, it has hosted over 40 visits from global clients and collaborators. Last month, a delegation of overseas solar cell company conducted a three-week sample making and equipment validation on the institute’s 1.2x0.6 m² platform, achieving a conversion efficiency exceeding 20%.
